The fashion cycle in recent years has resurfaced in 70s, 80s, 90s, and Y2K fashion pieces like baby tees, platform boots, and mom jeans. In 2023, cargo and parachute pants reign as a prominent trending piece. Ladies can rejoice in their discovery of cargo and parachute pants; these are the few types of pants with functional pockets while flattering the figure with their higher and fitted waist. Essential pieces to pair with these pant styles involve chunky heels and fitted tops. For the summer weather, My Melrose has looks with cargo and parachute pants curated for the heat.
Functional and Fashionable Cargo Looks
No matter what silhouette or theme you're going for, each recommended look is guaranteed functional with multiple pockets (many women's pants do not have functional pockets) and, of course, without sacrificing fashion. We've got a mix of wholly fitted looks, earthy-inspired color palettes, and a maximalist look with satin cargo. Take a look at the slideshow above and read below on styling info.
The first outfit embraces uniqueness with a bold top, texture with the cargo pockets, and expertly mixed shades of a neutral color palette. The aggressive top featured is a bright orange "CTTN Candy" Short Sleeve Basic Crop Top that shows your lovely figure with its arched cut hem. Going with a fitted theme, the khaki "Hot Kiss" Skinny Contrast Stitch Cargo Pants are mid-rise with a skinny fit that hugs your waist just right. Add a belt like Vitaliia does in her inspirational look for greater cinching. Grab a pair of our "Kedi" PU Geometric Design Sneakers to give your look a little designer dupe.
Your cargo can make a statement and begin a glam look. The second photo includes an on-trend piece, our gold "AF" Satin Cargo Pants. We created a maximalist fashion with the contemporary-sized "Fashion Space" Short Sleeve Geometric Multicolored Top and the silver "Forever" Pleather Solid Color Sneakers. Another option is going completely monochromatic, like this chartreuse ensemble with German model Leonie Hanne wearing this captivating look.
The final two looks are earth-tone inspired with white "Soda" 5 ½" Double Platform Ankle Strap Open Toe Heels for a sophisticated touch. Both outfits feature the "Love Tree" Short Sleeve Sweetheart Cinch Front Crop Top and olive green "Almost Famous" 16" 3-Button Jogger Cargo Pants. Reinvent the jogger-style cargo pants looks by adding a romantic and feminine vibe with lace and heels, as Emmily Josiah does here.
Ressurect the Best of Y2K with Parachute Pants
Y2K is here to reign as a fashion subculture trend in 2023, with parachute pants as the supreme piece. Parachute pants rebel against the skinny fit with their extra baggy legs, sometimes utilitarian pocketed design and adjustable ankles to show a range of gathered cinched and full-width release. There are various ways to style these pants, from baggy tees to lace corsets. Our two outfits show a more editorial inspiration and a hip-hop-esque look.
Our editorial inspiration aimed at looks like Kylie Jenner's and aimed for something less casual and more elevated in presentation. Featuring our tan "Love Tree" Nylon Parachute Pants, we created a "model off-duty" look with a basic white crop top under the black "NY Invasion" Long Sleeve Blazer and heeled black booties. Of course, every "off-duty model" needs a baseball cap and a bag to try and inconspicuously walk down the street without recognition.
Our final look is casual with hip-hop inspiration like "Murriam <3's" outfit. Our look features the grey "Love Tree" Nylon Parachute Pants with the white "Cotton" 12" Sleeveless No Shoulder Mock Neck Crop Top and bone "Soda" 2 1/2" Platform Ankle Strap Sandals. Get ahead of the game by switching out our sandals with a pair of our "Forever" Pleather Multi-Colored Sneakers and add a varsity jacket (which is in store). An excellent example of this outfit is "ieva222's" look on Pinterest.
