Viva Magenta 18-1750, the 2023 color of the year, gave us vibrance, strength, and emulation of bravery and fearlessness. It intended to unleash experimental creativity without restraints to celebrate a rebellious spirit. Pantone shifts us to the "velvety" and "gentle" Peach Fuzz 13-1023. Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, defines Peach Fuzz:

"In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless." *

Peach Fuzz is meant to communicate a message of sharing kindness and care and instilling community and collaboration with those around us. There is also channeling "the human experience of enriching and nurturing the mind, body, and soul." ** While we face turmoil, we must remember to care for ourselves in health and stamina to enjoy life. For 2024, remember to step back from the mundane that emphasizes productivity and achievement and be with ourselves and our loved ones.

When using Peach Fuzz in fashion, remember the peach itself, mainly its texture. Laurie Pressman, vice president of Pantone, uses touch to define adjectives that describe Peach Fuzz with "sueded, velvety, quilted, and furry textures, luxuriously soothing and soft to the touch." **

"Colors for NYFW Spring 2024 inspire feelings of release. Opening the imagination and amplifying and liberating our own unique artistic spirit, they enable us to express ourselves in more inventive ways", said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone® Color Institute. "A harmonious mix of familiar shades infused with a contemporary edge, colors for NYFW Spring 2024 introduce a new interpretation of current times as memories of the past and a glimpse of the future bring hope for the present". ***

The colors pictured above for spring 2024 are Rooibos Tea, Orangeade, Watercress, Desert Flower, Chambray Blue, Pastel Lilac, Marlin, Lemon Drop, Mint, and Capri. Classic colors pictured in the original Pantone article on New York Fashion Week are Brilliant White, Mushroom, Northern Droplet, Quiet Shade, and Brush. The slideshow presents some examples of these colors, replicated or closely resembling them as best we could, along with an additional color. We channel bright hues with our denim blue. Although it's not a close enough match to the Pantone blues, we're still in the spirit of spring. The tops we have displayed are a mix of the "Bozzolo" Short Sleeve Notch Ribbed Knit Crop Top, "Crescita" Short Sleeve V-Neck Notch Crop Top, "Crescita" Short Sleeve Soft V-Neck Crop Top, "Full Circle" Short Sleeve 15" V-Neck Empire Top", and the "Full Circle" Short Sleeve 17" Snap Front Top.

The best way to showcase the excitement of these new colors is to see them in action. We've curated some basic top and bottom examples to show various options when trying to style these colors. Additionally, we added a couple of examples of colors we're adding to our spring collection that are in the spirit of Pantone and some individual pants and shoes that will be trending for 2024.

First, we introduce the "Mega Wear" 2-Piece Short Sleeve Pant Set in olive. This maximalist set is excellent for people just starting their journey into maximalist fashion. You're energetic and warm with this look in the spirit of the colors Watercress and Desert Flower. With the temperatures still on the chilly side, a long blazer coat is a fashionable outwear item that can add an elevated touch of chicness to it. You can play it safe and choose a Desert Flower-inspired coat and match it with some kitten heels, or dare to dive head first into maximalism and go for a Rooibos Tea-inspired coat and, instead of kitten heels, choose comfortable clogs.

Next, we added some pop culture to the mix of our inspiration. We pair the "Freeze" Short-Sleeve Purple Winnie the Pooh baseball tee with the "Love Tree" Dark Nylon Parachute Pants. These pieces embody the combined spirit of Pastel Lilac, Brilliant White, and Quiet Shade. You're sweet and give the energy of a grounded young woman, all while keeping things simple and modern in your style. Keep the active streetwear vibe by adding athletic sneakers that have a metallic detail for an eye-catching surprise to your look.

For those who want to try their hand at being on-trend and attempting an editorial-esque look, grab our "Love Tree" Long Sleeve Crop Top (while it's on sale and in stock) and the khaki-colored "Love Tree" Dark Nylon Parachute Pants. This look combines our bright denim blue and Pantone's Brush. Try the trend of wearing elaborate embellished shoes that make a statement.

The last two outfits showcase colors our stores will carry for spring. Fuschia remains a staple color in the Melrose rotation for spring, but we add bright green, light pink, lime, bright denim blue, pink, and black. The first of these two showcases a contemporary look featuring the fuchsia "Jolie" Long-Sleeve Airflow Oversize 2-Pocket Shirt and the royal (bright denim blue) "Mango" Pull-on Bootcut Pants. Wear this bright ensemble to work with embellished kitten heels to catch everyone's attention at the most critical moments, and you're on your game.

Our final look is another contemporary selection with the "Emily" Long-Sleeve Striped Mock-Neck Sweater and "Ikeddi" 11" Nylon Pants. These will somewhat give a sneak peek of our light pink and bright green colors. This is a look you can wear metallic heels with to make a statement or clog for on-trend comfort.
