My Melrose Shoes Based on Your Zodiac Sign (Part II)

We have returned with conversations on the zodiacs and My Melrose ladies' shoe styles based on them. Last week's article explained the significance of the zodiac and how you can look deeper into your sign. Our friends under the sun sign's Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer. This week, we're talking about Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and shoes based on these signs. 

Leo the lion (July 22 − August 22 (2023)) is a fire sign, with their ruling planet being the sun. Leo signs typically have prominent personalities, are theatrical, and are charismatic. When they receive praise, they are easily satisfied; conversely, it shows if they're unhappy or hurt. Their anger is a mask to shield their vulnerabilities because they are afraid to admit them; therefore, they want to be unbreakable. Leos tend not to want to need anything from anyone, want to be celebrated as people, and feel important; deserving special treatment. They're not fans of being told what to do due to their pride.

The Leo fashion shows they trust in themselves when they get dressed or pick out an item or two to add to their closet. They might pick something that is straight-up obscure to everyone else but love the challenge and be determined to make it work, to which they'll most likely succeed. Leos will probably have the most dramatic painted toes and want everyone to see, so we chose a simple yet uncommonly chosen cognac, "Charles" Thong Braided Sandals.

Virgo the Virgin (August 23 – September 22 (2023)) is an earth sign ruled by Mercury. Virgos have an acute attention to detail with their particular system of where things are, especially in their own home; however, that does not necessarily mean they are neat. They tend to be intelligent and starkly introverted. Yet, they want to stay busy helping fix the lives of others around them while ignoring their needs (somewhat similar to their Aquarian counterparts). Virgos welcome others being vulnerable to them. However, they do not feel obligated to do the same for you; they tend to keep to themselves. Virgos want to feel useful and like contributing to things more significant than themselves. Their need to feel busy is a necessity for them, or they start to feel anxious when they slow down. 

With perfectionists in their nature, the style Virgo tends to enjoy more tailored items for a polished look. They gravitate from a mix of "grown-up" elevated pieces to something more casual. Virgos also flip-flopped from minimal eyes to bohemian; however, both sides have a feminine inspiration. Our shoe pick is for the bohemian side of Virgos, showcasing the tan "Forever" EVA Rhinestone Thong Ankle Strap Wedges. Libra, the scales symbol (September 23 – October 22 (2023)), is an air sign with its ruling planet Venus. Those born under the sun sign Libra tend to be compassionate, empathetic, and challenging to understand due to their ability to be "extroverted and introverted, strategic and spontaneous, focused and intuitive." Libras are like their Aquarian and Virgo friends in the sense that they'll go out of their way to help others. Confrontation and conflict are two things they avoid at all costs, they are afraid of being alone, and fear can cripple their minds if they let it rule them. Libras care about beauty (hence their ruling planet), and it relates to their appearance. They choose their fashion to highlight their best features and mood. 

Blue is a Libra power color, but they also gravitate toward pink. Libras enjoy classic pieces but with a unique twist, and their fabric choices lean to something lusher like silk or suede for beauty and comfort all at once. We chose the rose gold "Legend" Glitter Rhinestone Pointed Toe Ballet Flats for our Libras. These gorgeous flats would go well with a mini skirt, camisole tops or dresses, and leggings.

Scorpio the scorpion (October 23 – November 21 (2023)) is a water sign with its ruling planet, Pluto. Scorpios are mysterious and complex people who are always watching. They scan everyone around them, trying to stare into their souls, and prefer to be the ones asking the questions. With their keen power of observation, Scorpios tend to know what makes someone tick, how to pit people against each other, and are intentional when revealing information. Furthermore, their unhinged minds make them potentially the least susceptible to being afraid of anything, even death. This gives them the ability to face human truths head-on and the will to live in the darkness of life, providing them with a greater appreciation for life itself. To feel more secure in life, Scorpios need to be in control of themselves and others; their greatest fear is vulnerability, for it gives others power over them. 

It should be no surprise that Scorpios love dark colors and gothic glamour. They like outfits that include elements of sexy and alluring with fabrics like leather, lace, latex, and metal accents like studs, zippers, and chains. Scorpios have staple pieces they can love and get in every dark color and signature outfit. For our Scorpio queens, we went with a sexy pair of red "Legend" Satin Open Toe Ankle Strap Heels. Our world explorer Sagittarius, the archer (November 22 – December 20 (2023)), is a fire sign ruled by Jupiter. Like their Aquarian friends, Sagittarius people value freedom, and like their Gemini counterparts, they're constantly searching for something new. In addition, they love intelligent people that make them think about more extensive thoughts. Sagittarius signs believe external knowledge is quickly gained while internal knowledge has greater depth and power.

In fashion, Sagittarius rarely plans their outfit, and they love to be the most fun with their look. Sagittarius loves bold and bright pieces like things with rhinestones, blazers, chunky boots, wide-leg trousers, and oversized tops. The final zodiac sign, Capricorn the sea goat (December 21 – January 19 (2023)), is an earth sign ruled by Saturn. Capricorns are not attention seekers and would rather be respected than admired. They constantly compete with themselves, construct new goals, and remain disciplined to achieve their internal desires. Capricorns might be perceived as workaholics due to their inherent responsible nature and wish to be self-sufficient.

Capricorns are simple, sophisticated, and comfortable with the skill always to be dressed for the occasion. Vintage pieces and subtle fashion is where Capricorns are at, especially since they are not big spenders. As a result, their color palette leans toward conservative, toned-down cool tones like navy, brown, black, white, grey, and khaki.
